“Self-care is never a selfish act - it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer others. Anytime we can listen to true self and give the care it requires, we do it not only for ourselves, but for the many others whose lives we touch.” ― Parker Palmer
Do you want to be more positive? Are you trying to give yourself a boost?
There are so many different ways to FEEL happier!
One of the best ways to give yourself a mood boost is by taking care of yourself physically. When you exercise, eat healthily, or get plenty of sleep, you’re setting your body up for success. You’re giving your body the fuel it needs to power through the day.
You’re also taking care of yourself mentally! Many people FEEL better after they exercise or get a good night’s rest. Maybe you can think of a time you have felt this way.
When you exercise, the stress hormone levels in your body decrease. Your body also produces endorphins, which naturally boost your mood.
When you eat healthy foods, your brain functions better. Some studies have shown that refined sugars are linked to impaired brain function. Refined sugars might also contribute to mood disorders.
Think about how you feel when you don’t get enough sleep. You might be unmotivated, easily irritated, and just have a hard time getting through the day. You might feel like you’re just dragging.
When you sleep well, you have plenty of energy, and you can push through your day smoothly. You might feel more motivated because of your energy. Even missing out on a little bit of sleep can affect your mood.
Part of living a more positive life starts with making a few changes. Sleep, diet, and physical activity naturally make you feel better.
Set yourself up to have a better mood, and positivity will come more easily.
It also works the other way around.
Sleep, diet, and physical activity make you feel better physically too. When you feel motivated and positive, you’re more likely to take care of your body. And when you’re feeling good physically, you can take better care of yourself mentally. You feel more encouraged to make that healthy meal or to go on a run.
Come up with a way that you can take better care of yourself TODAY!
It can be something small. Maybe you can take the time to prepare a nutritious meal. You could fit in a workout—even for 15 minutes.
When you start taking care of yourself, you will feel more positive and be able to live a fuller, happier life!
