Service Description

For Veterans, First Responders and their significant others/spouses Only. Please do not register if you do not meet this requirement. This program is sponsored by 22 Challenge. Join Shelly Werts, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and US Navy Veteran for The Mindfulness Wellbeing Program. This unique program invites you to embark on a journey toward greater wellbeing, balance, engagement, and control in your life. The Mindfulness Wellbeing Program was developed by The School of Positive Transformation and is facilitated by Shelly. It draws on the vast research on mindfulness and wellbeing and is designed to offer an introduction to mindfulness and wellbeing. What is mindfulness? Mindfulness means paying attention in the present moment, on-purpose, and non-judgmentally. It nurtures self-awareness, clarity, and acceptance of present-moment reality. Mindfulness is a way of relating to reality – whatever is happening in your life at this moment. This type of engagement can help you remain calm and in control during challenging times. In this program participants are offered a space where they can develop their mindfulness skills. The program includes mindfulness meditation practice, mindfulness exercises in everyday life, gentle yoga exercises (adapted to participants’ conditions), group discussions aimed at enhancing awareness, individual instruction, and daily guided meditation practice (requiring 10-40 minutes meditation practice per day). In parallel The Mindfulness Wellbeing Program offers research-based knowledge and a space to discuss key aspects of our well-being, what promotes or undermines it, and how mindfulness can improve our wellbeing. It therefore examines common issues including relationship problems, stress, anxiety, depression, sleep problems and pain. The program is interactive, dynamic, thought provoking, and practical, as it is geared to develop mindfulness skills as a key method for improving our wellbeing. We will meet via Zoom on Fridays at 1 pm for 90 minutes for 8 weekly sessions. Registration closes 72 hours before event begins. You must attend all 8 sessions to receive the free gift at the end of the program.
